Comfort Movers is a Texas-registered, licensed and insured moving company running our own six trucks and W-2 crews across Collin, Dallas, Denton, Rockwall, and Grayson County since 2014. We load it, drive it, and unload it ourselves — the same crew handles your relocation from the first wrap to the last walk-through.
How Comfort Movers got started
Owner Derek Sanford grew up in Garland, helping his uncle’s small moving outfit around East Dallas on weekends as a teenager. He studied business at a community college and learned to wrap a mahogany hutch clearing out Lakewood-area estate sales.
He spent nearly eight years behind the wheel of an over-the-road tractor out of Fort Worth, hauling household goods across the Sun Belt. He stood in too many Frisco and McKinney driveways watching a written binding estimate double once the truck crossed into Collin County and the homeowner had no leverage left.
A flat rate written down before the truck leaves the yard
In 2014, Derek put his name on the side of a truck, opened Comfort Movers out of a yard off Central Expressway, and gave North Texas families and Legacy West corporate transfers a real flat rate written down before the first box loads — his own crews, no load handed off to anyone else.
The roster behind the trucks
We run six trucks and a small roster of uniformed, background-checked Collin County employees as part of our full service lineup. The same people build your quote, hold your loading-dock window, and reassemble your bed frame in the new house. No load boards. No crew you never met.
- Patricia Nguyen — office manager who walls off the Plano ISD school-year moving surge, keeps a quieter weekday book reserved for Legacy West corporate relocations, and holds the loading-dock windows at the Frisco and McKinney apartment communities the moment a lease-signing date drops
- Marcus Delaney — dispatcher routing every job around the Dallas North Tollway, US-75, and the Sam Rayburn Tollway interchange, watching for summer heat-advisory scheduling changes, and rerouting hours ahead of a rare January ice storm or a spring tornado watch
- Bobby Sanford — lead crew chief, and Derek’s brother, running the bigger whole-house jobs out in Frisco and McKinney master-planned communities
- Julian Reyes — crew chief and packing lead for Legacy West corporate relocations, Downtown Plano brick-district walk-ups, and Richardson apartment turnover
Built for Plano moves
North Texas relocation has its own rhythm, and we plan around it on every job — some of which carry through to specific local Collin County relocations we run weekly.
- Legacy West corporate relocation — executive household moves tied to the Toyota North America, JCPenney, Liberty Mutual, and FedEx Office corridor
- Plano ISD school-year timing — family relocations cluster around the May-through-August school calendar
- Texas summers, June through September — heat-safe scheduling for crews and goods on every job
- Rare January ice storms — DFW roads are not built for ice, so we stage early and reroute when a storm is called
- Spring tornado watches, March through May — we stage around storm warnings rather than push through them
- Comfortable with Frisco and McKinney master-planned communities and three-car-garage executive homes — full load-outs standard
